To any of our members who have a son or daughter who is currently a senior in high school and planning on attending a four year college.  Our Local has a scholarship program available to help with the high cost of tuition.  The rules and application are available here.  The deadline for application for the Local scholarship is April 1, 2006.

Scholarships are also available through the A.P.W.U. National. One is the E. C. Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship for help with college tuition.  This scholarship was established in January 1969 and first awarded in 1970 as a living memorial and permanent tribute to E. C. "Roy" Hallbeck, President of the former United Federation of Postal Clerks, as a self-perpetuating financial base for significant educational assistance to children of union members.

There is also a Vocational Scholarship Program to help students interested in programs of study leading to definite trade, technical, industrial or vocational occupations.

Applications for the A.P.W.U. National scholarships are available on their website at www.apwu.org and please note that the deadline for the national scholarships is March 15, 2005.

The scholarships are open only to high school seniors.  March 15 each year is the standing deadline for APWU to receive completed applications for the Selection Committee to consider. Applications are available through the local APWU office, or from the office of APWU Secretary-Treasurer Robert Tunstall (202-842-4215).

If you are not able to print out the needed rules and applications, please see your steward or contact the Local Union office and someone will get you the required forms.
